It's nice to be right but how can we be spiritually right?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] It’s always nice to be right. But you know, when it comes to our spirituality, we look at ourselves and we can see we’re not measuring up the way we should. So how are we made right? Well, the Bible tells us pretty clearly in the book of Romans how it happens. In Romans 5:9, the apostle Paul writes this: “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” So how are we made right? How are we brought into a right relationship with God? Well, it says here it’s by the blood – by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It’s not dependent on how perfectly we do things.

Yes, we should strive for right, but it’s all dependent on our Savior, Jesus Christ. He justifies us, He brings us into a right relationship with God. Our sins are forgiven through Him. And that’s what that word “justification” means, that we’re brought into a right relationship and declared righteous before Him.So it’s not dependent on us – it’s dependent on Him.

Now, that should motivate us to do His ways. In fact, a couple of verses before this, in Romans chapter 2, we’re told pretty clearly here in verse 13, as a result of being made right, it should affect the way we are, what we do. It says, “Not the hearers of the law are just in His sight, but the doers of the law” (Romans 2:13). It’s doing that law. So, because we’re right with God, because we have a Savior, let’s give it our all to please Him in everything we do, and we will be made right before Him.

That’s BT Daily. We’ll see you next time.
