Do you ever feel like people just don't get you? What about God?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] I think we've all felt that "Sometimes people just don't understand me, they don't get me. They're just not seeing what I really mean, what I really think, or how I really feel." I know you've probably felt like that too. And when I begin to think that way, I've got to step back for a moment and say, "Wait a second, is that really true?"

There's a section of Scripture I like to look at that is such a reminder, how much God really does get us. And it's over in the book of Isaiah. In fact, Isaiah 63 has some powerful words that really support us and shows the fact how much God really does get us. Here's what it says, "I will mention the loving kindness of the Lord." So, Isaiah begins to talk about how much God cares about us.

I mean, I look at that and I think, "Oh, by the way, did I tell you how much God likes you?" Here's what he says, "According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us and the great goodness toward the house of Israel that He's bestowed on them according to His mercies."

So think of it that way. And, of course, today, we are spiritual Israel. We are God's spiritual people. And so it says, "According to the multitude of His loving kindness." He says, "Surely, they are my people," surely they are. God understands us and loves us and says we're His family, we're His kids, we're His children." Then here's what it says that really hits home for me. Verse 9, "In all their affliction, He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them."

See, God feels us. He understands us. It even says here, "He hurts when we hurt. He's afflicted when we're afflicted. He really does get it, He really does understand us." It says, "In His love and in His pity, He redeemed them, Israel and us, today and bore them and carry them all the days." That's a God that loves us. And more than just loving us and caring for us, it's a God that understands us. We have a God that gets us and cares for us. Despite the fact, maybe we do silly things sometimes, He understands.

And so if you come to that point one day, you're feeling, "God, I just don't think anybody gets me." Think of Isaiah 63, "God does get us. He understands, and He is there to help us to have a better perspective."

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
