[Darris McNeely] Every so often we need a little boost in our prayers, in our prayer life and the way we approach God. I'm fortunate I get to teach kids about the Bible. I just recently took them through two chapters in the Bible, Revelation chapters 4 and 5, that when properly understood, really do give us a boost in our prayer life because they are pictures and visions that the apostle John has of the throne of God in heaven.

Chapter 4 of Revelation opens it up and the first verse, it says this, "After these things, I looked and behold a door standing open in heaven and the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me saying, come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this. And immediately I was in the spirit and behold a throne sat in heaven and one sat on the throne."

So the Apostle John is invited into the presence of God in this heavenly setting and God's setting on a throne. And the entire chapter then flows with a vision of the father sitting on the throne with this bejeweled elegance and precision and clarity all around him of emeralds and jasper and a sea of glass.

It is a stunning setting and the words likely don't do it full justice as to what the Apostle John saw and what it is the reality of the throne of God in heaven. But when you read through, you see the focus of these heavenly beings, these spirit beings, 24 elders, beasts that are around the throne of God, all John is describing, and what do they do? They give glory and honor and worship to God, glory and honor and worship to God, to the Father.

And when that is done and when we see that we're helped to understand how we can approach God, how God should be approached, and how we can also worship God in our prayers before this stunning, magnificent, glorious setting. When we pray, keep that in our mind's eye of that vision of the Father sitting on that throne. Now there's also one other vision that is told in chapter 5, we'll come back and I'll do that in the next daily that shows Jesus Christ, the lamb of God and how He is approached in this heavenly setting.

That's BT Daily. Join us next time.
