[Steve Myers] TGIF! Today's Friday and that seems to be a lot of people all around the world's favorite day because it's Friday. It's the end of the work week and most people seem to really look forward to Fridays just because of that. The work week is finally over, life has been so busy, now I can be done with work and I can have the weekend to myself.

You know, I look forward to Fridays too, but for a different reason. Friday means the Sabbath is just around the corner. Starting tonight, Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, the Sabbath begins. And what a wonderful blessing that God gives us when the work week is over and the Sabbath has come—the seventh day of the week.

In fact, He created it all the way back when things began when He created the world, He created Adam and Eve, He created the Sabbath for a special purpose. And boy, we never want to forget that. Every Friday it reminds me that the Sabbath is on the way and the Sabbath means something special. It's a great opportunity.

God commanded it in Exodus 20:8, He said, "Remember the Sabbath." Of course, the world around us has forgotten all about the Sabbath and most don't understand what the Sabbath really signifies. But it's a time that we can rest from working, not just have the whole weekend off, but we can begin to focus on some important things.

We can focus on the fact that God is our God. Resting on the Sabbath shows who our God is and who His people are. God recognizes His people by keeping the Sabbath. And so it's a wonderful opportunity that we can be spiritually rejuvenated.

I know people love Fridays because it means Saturdays they can kick back and Sundays they can relax, but it's more than just physical relaxation when you come to the Sabbath. It also means we can have spiritual rejuvenation.

We can have our spiritual batteries charged back up on the Sabbath. We can develop a closer relationship with God. We can develop a closer relationship with our family and our friends. We can come together and we can worship God on the Sabbath.

In fact, it's an important thing when Fridays come I'm reminded who the Lord really is. Who is your God? You know, in Mark 2:28 Christ said that He is Lord of the Sabbath. So it's not just taking a couple of minutes on Sunday and honoring Him, it's the entire day—Friday sunset to Saturday sunset—shows who our God is and who we are as His people. So we can honor Him, we can praise Him. We can develop our relationship with Him on a much deeper spiritual level and of course with our family and friends as well.

So don't forget the Sabbath. TGIF! Absolutely. Thank God it's Friday because it means the Sabbath is just around the corner.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
