[Darris McNeely] There's an old Proverb that says when you have made it 90% down the path, you're halfway to your destination. Sounds illogical, but think about it. When you're 90% home, 90% to the end, you're halfway to your destination.

Why is that? Well, think about all of the uncompleted tasks, all the books that were never finished, all the jobs that were never done just at the very end when just a little bit more effort would've accomplished and finished the job. I know people who have worked for years on a master's degree, finished all the coursework, did all the research, but didn't write the dissertation or didn't go through the last interview before the board and never got the degree. They did all the work up to that point, but something kept them from finishing it up.

What's in your life that has kept you from finishing that one last goal, that one last dream?  I think there's a lot of truth to this statement. The last 10%. There's a scripture in Hebrews 12:1 that helps us to appreciate and understand this as we look at this from a spiritual perspective.

Paul writes, "Therefore we also since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." And the implication is to finish the race, to get all the way to the end and to be enduring to the end. Another scripture says that he who endures to the end the same shall be saved (Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13)

What's going on in your life? What are you working toward that you want to finish, and yet there may be something there that's sticking that's keeping you from getting to the finish line, and finishing the job, finishing the project, finishing the goal, achieving the dream? The last 10%. It takes effort. It's worth it. Keep at it.
