[Steve Myers] Zombies are big right now. It seems like you can't get away from them. They're in movies. They're on their own television series. They're in commercials even. And I think we all got an idea of what a zombie is. The zombie is supposed to be someone that's come back from the dead or they're the undead or by some means they've come back to life whether it's by witchcraft or voodoo or some other crazy method that these dead people are walking around.

Well, what does the Bible have to say about that and could it be something that maybe there's a little bit more to it than this? I think the Bible's pretty clear when it comes to this type of thing. Imagine dead people walking around. It's a demonic kind of a thing. I'm not sure if you've ever thought of it as a counterfeit.

Could a zombie be a counterfeit to something that really might have some spiritual meaning? I think it could because Satan loves to counterfeit the truth. Listen to this passage. It's found over in Romans 6:4. It says this, "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death." So through our baptism we're supposed to die. We're supposed to put away the old man, the old person. And then it goes on to say that, "Jesus as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life."

Is it possible that the zombies are a rip-off of a biblical truth? Maybe kind of a weird thought. But I think there is a connection.

We're supposed to kill the old man, and we're supposed to put on Christ. So in a way we're supposed to be the living dead in a sense that we're supposed to not be the dead person with that old way of life and old sin that we're carrying around. But we're supposed to put on the mind of Christ and be a new creation, a new life. And of course as it says here, we're supposed to be in the likeness of His resurrection. And so we're supposed to be spiritual creations.

So maybe the next time you see a commercial or see an ad for a zombie movie or something like that, don't go to that. I think you're mixing in your life with demons and I don't think it's the best thing, but maybe instead you can think of Romans 6:4 that we're to be a new creation in Christ. That's the ultimate goal.
