Do you ever feel like your whole world is spinning constantly? Well, it is, and at amazing speeds. The earth, at the point of the equator, spins at approximately 1,000 miles per hour about its axis and at about 67,000 miles per hour around the sun!

By the power and design of our great God, gravity keeps us from feeling the Earth’s orbit and circling motion. Yet our world can still feel as if it is endlessly spinning without control—with us hanging along for the ride.

But this doesn’t have to be so.

In Psalm 46:10, God says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” When we literally stop our thoughts and our actions and turn towards God, our world can stop and slow down. It is at moments like these when we need to acknowledge that He is the creator of the entire universe and He wants a relationship with each and every one of us.

We can be told this a thousand times—but think about it.  Do you ever feel like God has been forgotten in your day’s worth of responsibilities, thoughts, cares, worries and efforts? The answer is to be still and know that He is God. He remains in control, shows us how to live and wants the best for every one of us. He will cause the swirling confusion to be at rest and use a gravitational pull to bring us near to Him.

Be still and know that He is God.
