We all look for shortcuts, don’t we? We want the shortest and best route to anywhere we travel.

Have you ever taken what you thought was a shortcut, only to find the way more difficult and end up taking longer to get to your destination?

Why are so many getting caught up in the digging for spells and incantations to bend the spirit world to their will? Why are they seeking the roads so many traveled before that led them down a false path?

The earliest teaching about a path to take came to man from his Creator. He walked and talked with him in a beautiful garden, and treated him like a friend. He told him what to avoid that would be harmful to him, what would keep him from the road to eternal life.

Adam chose what he thought would be a shortcut—he would not have to follow all that God had been teaching him but could choose right and wrong for himself. He did not have to wait for God to give him eternal life, he already had it, right?

“You will not surely die,” Adam and Eve were told by the serpent in the garden.

Many stories exist about wizards, witches and warlocks who carried out miraculous feats and live eternally. Books were written and secreted away. Ancient practices are coming into vogue again as people seek to find these ways and to tap into a spirit realm, to delve into what they do not know, because they think they will find a shortcut to wealth and happiness and eternity.

Why are so many getting caught up in the digging for spells and incantations to bend the spirit world to their will? Why are they seeking the roads so many traveled before that led them down a false path?

Our nation used to make such things illegal but slowly they are becoming more common.

It has been a progression for some time to make the occult mainstream.

In The Wizard of Oz, the wizard was a fraud, but the witches were not.

In Bewitched, a witch is made out to be the good one always in charge, with her husband portrayed as a bumbling idiot who must be rescued time and again through her magic shortcuts in order to be a success.

Many stories have had darker themes that we find fascinating if we open ourselves up to them. Stories of bloodthirsty vampires, of zombies and beings who live without restraint.

There has never been a time in the history of mankind that our Creator has left us without directions, but most of mankind has rejected His Way and searched for a shortcut. And as mankind turns away from the Bible and the knowledge from God of the Way, many are falling into that same old trap laid by Satan the Devil that promises a shortcut to great rewards without making any effort.

We have eternity in our hearts, God put it there. We cannot fathom a time when we would not exist, and without knowledge of the strait and narrow way, we find many broad ways that offer the same rewards. But can they deliver?

People who get involved with the occult find their lives consumed by it as they become absorbed into an alternate reality.

Jesus turned down the shortcut that Satan offered him. He knew it was the path not only to his own destruction, but to all the future family He was willing to sacrifice his life for.

Jesus warned us: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14).

The truth is, when it comes to our path to God, to spirituality, to eternity and peace of mind, we must follow the directions given to us in the Holy Bible. Those directions tell us to stay far away from the ways of darkness.

Those paths will only lead to dark, twisted ways that take us further away from our Creator.
