All too often when there seems to be storm clouds coming, people batten down the hatches and wait until it has passed. Often the storm is minor and may even simply pass by. There are many moments during our lives where we face adversity and trouble. That is not always the time to succumb to our concerns and fears. Action is what is needed. The Bible correctly tells us that if we faint when faced by adversity, we are weak (Proverbs 24:10).

Farmers know the likelihood of changes in the weather. If their attitude was one of stopping at the first sign of a cloud, they would fail as farmers. Most farmers have the attitude of getting on with the task at hand, although they keep an eye on the area of troubles, they forge ahead and work within the boundaries of the circumstances. The apostle Paul learned this vital lesson. He learned to be content whatever state he was in (Philippians 4:11-12). That means although he was surrounded with some things he did not like, his focus was on that which he could rejoice in. Rain will come into every life. What we do with it is our choice.
