"Here Is Your Son"
In the midst of the agony of the cruelest form of execution the iron-fisted Roman Empire could devise, Jesus, the Messiah—the Son of God—looked down to see His grieving, devoted mother standing there. Through the blood and the pain, He also focused on His good friend, John. In that poignant moment, He again displayed the outgoing love that characterized His entire life.
"He said to his mother, 'Dear woman, here is your son,' and to the disciple, 'Here is your mother.' From that time on, this disciple took her into his home" (John 19:26-27 John 19:26-27 [26] When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son!
[27] Then said he to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
American King James Version×, New International Version).
With His body racked with excruciating pain, Jesus still focused on the needs of others. What an awesome reminder of His love!
