A wise man noted that a long life may not be good enough, but a good life is long enough. Those words carry a lot of meaning. It is the sum of our accomplishments and relationships (especially our relationship with God) that weighs the scale on the side of contentment. God offers a long life as a promise to those who honor their parents in the Fifth Commandment (Exodus 20:12). He wants us to enjoy the years we have and then, when it is time to die, we can die with a smile on our faces.
