Our world functions by time. We have clocks on our walls, in our cars, on our wrists and in the public square to remind everyone what time it is. We try to be “on time.” Companies may ask workers to “punch the clock” when they arrive—to record their time of arrival.

Being punctual is a good thing. Can you imagine an orchestra in which the kettledrums came in just a little late? What if the soloist began to sing just a second too early?

Trying to be punctual and on time is a virtue and appreciated by all.
