“An angry man is angry again with himself when he returns to reason” (Publius Syrus). Funny how often we explode in anger, only to wish we’d controlled the outburst. We often end up apologizing to those we have offended and feeling silly when we realize our anger was emotional and often premature and misdirected. Then we are angry with ourselves.

Paul wrote, “Be angry, and do not sin” (Ephesians 4:26). Anger is an emotional response—but when it turns to sin, then it reflects anger controlling us, rather than we it.
