Josiah Gilbert Holland once wrote: "A fit of anger is as fatal to dignity as a dose of arsenic is to life." Strong words those, but reflective of an important piece of advice given by the Bible. Ecclesiastes 7:9 informs us: "Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools."

All humans face things that could trigger anger. There is such a thing as righteous anger, and even our Creator gets angry from time to time.

The key is to be angry and not to sin (Ephesians 4:26). Anger is natural, but we need to develop the ability to control our anger. Anger interferes with clear thinking and tests our character. Controlling our anger is a great strength.
