Greetings Brethren!

We were blessed with perfect weather for the camp out and outdoor Sabbath service last weekend. The temperatures were mild...not too hot and not too cold. There was a nice breeze on the Sabbath which kept the gnats and mosquitoes away. In addition we didn’t have any rain at all! All in all it was a great weekend with great fellowship!

While lying in our tent early Sabbath morning I heard the birds start to sing. It started with one or two birds and within a half hour it was a cacophony of sound. It was the sound of nature coming alive after a long night. Being outside for a long period of time and hearing those bird songs brought these verses to mind:

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Romans 1:19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

God’s creation SHOWS that God exists. God’s creation shows God’s power. Our modern world has effectively insulated us from the creation. We keep our windows closed all year long to keep the heat or to keep the heat in. Our young people rarely play outside or even go outside. For many entertainment is video games, movies, websites or communicating with friends and strangers over the internet.

We have become disconnected and isolated from the world God made and connected to a world that man has made. I don’t think it’s coincidence that in general there exists little faith and belief in God in technological societies.

We should make it a regular habit in our lives to get outside and smell the flowers. We should learn to sit quietly outside and listen to the rhythms of nature. In short we should stay MORE connected to God’s world and less connected to man’s world.

Take care and see you soon!
