Feast of Trumpets

Hello Friends,

Knowing that we all want to make the Feast of Trumpets special I need to write today so that you can make plans in light of current weather conditions.

Bakersfield - we will email this congregation separately.

Los Angeles Congregation - It was our plan to have an outdoor church services at Rose City Church.  With a start time of 11:00 am, we thought we would not have it too early but at the same time beat the heat.  However, the “air quality index” from the severe smoke and particulate matter add a new factor to our plan.  The trend from the past week places the highest readings between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.  Even though the readings are trending down the likelihood of “very unhealthy” air quality during our service time is the reality.  While the temperature, into the 90’s will peak between 2-4:00 pm.  A pleasant outdoor church service now seems not possible. 

I would like to suggest an alternate approach.  

  • Zoom only service at 11:00 am

    • First message Christopher Tomes

    • Second Message Frank Fish

  • Gather in small groups of 10 or less in individual homes - participate in the service and then share your picnic lunch together. 

  • These small in home gatherings with a meal can be a great way to connect in a meaningful way with our spiritual brothers and sisters.  Let us embrace this opportunity for more connectedness.  

I know we had all hopes that these challenges and limitation to our full church service gatherings would be past us by now.  Cleary that is not the case.  Friends, let us view these limitations as a way to alter our approaches in a meaningful way.  Let us lean into the challenge, ask God for the vision and love we lack to see our way forward.

The scriptures we are going to review on the Feast of Trumpets offer a great hope and purpose for all mankind.  Let us ask God for the attitude to receive these “glad tidings” in a way which will lift us up to offer hope to all those round us.  THE KING, Jesus Christ is coming to restore meaning, purpose and the love of God to the face of this earth.
