SABBATH ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS

United Church of God, an International Association

North Canton & Youngstown, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Wheeling, WV Congregations

SABBATH, MAY 25, 2019

Youngstown – 11 A.m.                     Pittsburgh – 2:30 p.m.

North Canton – 2 p.m.                     Wheeling – 11 a.m.

 Dear brethren,

Good Sabbath evening to all. Am writing this just after we finished tonight’s Bible Study webcast: “Bible Biography: Joshua, Part 1.” We had 39 web connections during the study. If we average 2 people per connection, that makes a Bible Study attendance of 78 during the live webcast. The bulk of our connections were in Ohio with Pennsylvania running second and a host of Northeast and upper Midwest states represented.

If you missed the study, it will be posted onto our local North Canton website this Sabbath morning. Feel free to share the Bible Study link (in the schedule below) with others who would like to log onto study with all of us. If you don’t have internet access, we’ll have CD’s available from our sound crews tomorrow in North Canton and next Sabbath in the other congregations.

Please keep our ailing brethren in your prayers this Sabbath and during the coming week. Not only does God heal, but when we’re ill, we right away feel better just knowing about the prayers of the brethren. “…The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

Keep the true faith—and spread it,

Please drop off the items at Mark and Amanda’s by June 1st (address below) or if it is feasible, they can stop by and pick them up. Whatever goes unsold will be donated to Goodwill.

Those who are able to contribute additional funds are very welcome to do so. Checks to be made out to “UCG Canton” and mailed to Debbie Kuhns, PO Box 115, Paris, OH 44669. Thank you for your cooperation and help.

6.    LOCAL BIBLE READING PROGRAM:  PENTECOST—ANTICIPATION & AFTERMATH

The two books of the Bible that provide a logical lead-up to Pentecost are the books of Luke and Acts (technically, The Acts of the Apostles). The project is voluntary, but it will provide points of very interesting and beneficial fellowship discussion on the Sabbath.

Luke, a gentile physician, traveled extensively with the apostle Paul. God used him to record one of the four gospel accounts of Christ’s life, ministry and death for our sins. He also inspired Luke to write the Book of Acts.  This makes the two books of Scripture a logical study of the life and ministry of our Lord and Savior that led to the beginning of God’s Church on Pentecost, followed by the growth of God’s Church in the first century. Here is the schedule:

Luke 1 to 8          April 28 to May 4              Acts 1 to 10        May 19 – 25

Luke 9 to 17       May 5 – 11                         Acts 11 to 19      May 26 to June 1(reading for the coming week)

Luke 18 to 24     May 12 – 18                       Acts 20 to 28      June 2 - 8
