Now that the Feast of Tabernacles and the 8th Day have come to a close, we enter into the time of the year when the post-feast blues can set in. Here in Oregon, the days are getting shorter, the rains are coming in, and it's easy to come off the exhilaration of the Feast and somewhat begrudgingly settle in for the cold and dark months ahead.

Unfortunately, if we're not careful a certain lethargy can come into our lives during these colder months, and permeate our lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.

It is important that we take the energy from the Feast, the zeal and excitement that we experienced and put it to good use during these long winter months. It's 6 months to the Spring Holy days - what can you do during that time to keep the fire alive?

  • Read through sections of scripture that you haven't been through recently.

  • Take a look at one of the booklets that you haven't read - the new Grace booklet is out, and worth going through.

  • Make it a goal to spend some time with members in the Church that you don't often spend time with.

  • Do a series of bible studies on a topic, character, word, or something else.

  • Consider ways you can serve others in the congregation or community, make a plan and execute it.

  • Do something nice for someone else, even if it is something small, and do it just because you can.

  • ???

There are a number of ways that you can keep the fire from the Feast alive. The bigger question is - will we?

I hope that you all had a wonderful Feast of Tabernacles and 8th Day wherever it is you attended. We had a wonderful time in Bend with almost 600 of our brethren from all over. Unfortunately, as is often the case, we shared wonderful times with one another, lots of hugs, handshakes, etc.. and we also managed to get some viruses shared among the group. Our family is down sick this week, and in order to hopefully stop the transmission of whatever this stuff is - we'll be staying home to ensure we don't 'share' what we brought home.

Have a wonderful Sabbath - and we'll look forward to catching up with you all next week about your Feast experiences!
