Greetings brethren from Ghana!

Paul and I finally arrived after an uneventful flight, but an pretty eventful 48 hours.

JFK airport got hit with a rough weather pattern mid-morning Wednesday which resulted in delayed and cancelled flights all over the place. My flight was supposed to leave PDX at 11:00am, and it was delayed until 3:15. I missed my connecting.flight to Ghana as a result. Paul was delayed on his second flight, which arrived an hour and a half after mine.

So we were both rebooked on a flight for the same time the following day. Which meant we had about 22 hours in NYC.

We found the only hotel we could find - which happened to be in NJ. Then met up with Lewis and Lena VanAusdle the following morning for the 2nd time in as many days and checked out New York.

Lemonade out of Lemons, we saw Brooklyn Park, the Manhattan skyline, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, visited Ground Zero, went to times Square and Central Park, got a bagel and shmear. It was a very nice day.

There are things that happen that you have no control over. What’s the point in getting upset about it? You do what you can with what you’ve got. That’s all you can do. We choose our attitude and our outlook. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to maintain our focus on that which is good - despite the things that don’t go as planned.

Regardless of the delay. we made it! We’re here. We have met the other Youth Corps participants from Kenya and Zambia, and are excited to get started.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers. Have a wonderful Sabbath!!
