A Brighter Vision

By Anita G. Hamill, (Eureka)

A few weeks ago, my iPhone needed upgrading and when it was all done the screen was very dull and difficult to read. Turns out I was able to go to utilities and find a place to brighten up the screen, what a difference!

Isn’t this the way life is, the more things change, the harder it is to maintain clarity? We are all having more trials these days and the world is growing darker and more unstable around us all the time.

Perhaps it is time to brighten up our vision of the future. We are told in Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” The key word to change the setting on our spiritual vision screen, is hope. True hope can only come from God, by reading His promises to us of a beautiful and everlasting future in His Kingdom.

The first step is to remember that God is in charge of everything.  “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17 NIV).

Now that we remember who we are that we are safely in God’s hands, what     did He say our true future has in store for us? If we read the end of the Book, it’s all there. When I get discouraged, I return to Revelation 21 and read the end of the story, our glorious future!

In Revelation 21:2-6 (NKJV) we read, “And I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband…And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” What an awesome future to think about!

It is time to brighten up our vision screen with scriptures of hope. “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Then in I Corinthians 2:9 we read, “But as it is written, ‘Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.’”  There is indeed great hope for the future!  Let this be our brighter vision!
