Seeing God Through Creation: Day 7: The Sabbath
Seeing God Through Creation
Day 7: The Sabbath
This Family Study Guide reviews how God rested from His work and made the Sabbath Holy. The Sabbath has a special meaning that begins with creation of the world and carries through into the Kingdom of God. God created the Sabbath for man as a wonderful inheritance and reward for those who keep His Sabbath and call it a delight.
Isaiah 58:13-14 Isaiah 58:13-14 [13] If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:
[14] Then shall you delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
American King James Version× says, “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath delight, and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
