×Celebrating 50 Years of keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in Canada (1969-2019)
The first Feast of Tabernacles in Canada was held at Penticton, B.C.. An hour's drive south of Penticton is beautiful Osoyoos Lake, which spans the Canadian-U.S. border south of Penticton and north of Spokane. This will provide a family Feast setting in British Columbia again this year. Nestled in southern Okanagan Valley, it is renowned for its clear water, surrounding mountains, vineyards, fruit orchards, sandy beaches and outdoor activities.
The autumn harvest of apples, pears, plums and grapes abound around Feast-time. Hiking, golfing, boating, winery tours and shopping are popular activities. Nearby trails offer walking, biking and hiking through panoramic views along Osoyoos Lake and up to Chopaka Lookout and Mount Cobau. Families will enjoy the indoor Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad where 45 miniature trains pass along 2 kilometers of miniature track amidst dioramas that feature 18,000 hand-painted figurines of people, places and animals. Nearby, Feastgoers can walk around Osoyoos Lake at Swiws (Haynes Point) Provincial Park.
Church socials will be held at the Feast venue and will include a Family Dinner and Dance, a catered Senior’s Luncheon, Family Day at an amusement park, a 9-hole Golf Challenge, activities for singles, young adults and teens. Group volleyball, bocce ball, cricket and disc golf equipment are free from the front desk for beach side use. The Watermark Resort also offers rentable kayaks, SUPs and boat slippage. Sail boats, ski boats, jet skis, pontoon boats and boat charters are also available through nearby vendors.
Location of Services: The Feast venue is the Watermark Beach Resort, located right on the lake in the town of Osoyoos. The facility and meeting space are both handicap accessible. Services are held in the Conference Centre, located on the first floor. The Conference Centre’s exterior entrance is on Main Street at the junction of 74 Avenue.
First Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14. (Daily services at 10:30 a.m.)
From the Watermark one can either walk onto the beachfront or into Osoyoos town centre. Food is available at neighboring markets, eateries and shops—all within walking distance. Restaurants in Osoyoos include Canadian, American, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Asian, French, Indian and Mexican cuisine. There are also restaurants at wineries and resorts, pizza shops, pubs and fast-food. Please note that due to the Feast being later this year, some restaurants and businesses may have reduced hours, or in some cases may be closed for the season.
We look forward to having you and your family with us for the Feast of Tabernacles at Osoyoos Lake this year.
