Aug. 3, 2020 UPDATE:Local members plan to attend the Feast at Lake Taupo since internal COVID-19 restrictions have been removed. The international border is still firmly shut and no international visitors are likely to be allowed into New Zealand, so this has essentially become a local site. Given the spike in COVID-19 cases in the U.S.—and a somewhat smaller spike in Australia—it is unlikely that the international border would be open by the Feast.
Enjoy the breathtaking mountain and lake views at the Feast of Tabernacles in picturesque Acacia Bay, a few minutes’ drive west of Taupo town in the central North Island of New Zealand. Services will be held at the Tauhara Centre located at 60 Acacia Heights Drive (off Mapara Road), Acacia Bay.
Acacia Bay is approximately three-and-a-half hours’ drive from Auckland, and five hours’ drive from Wellington. Alternatively, flights are available into Taupo from Auckland or Wellington. The venue is a 15-minute drive west from Taupo airport.
Taupo is a popular tourist resort town, nestled on the banks of Lake Taupo, New Zealand's (and the Southern Hemisphere’s) largest freshwater lake. Local attractions include many water-bound activities such as world class fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, and jet boating. If you prefer more land-based activities there are plenty of walks, hikes, biking tracks, golf, geothermal attractions, honey hives and natural hot pools.
Rotorua is a one-hour drive East and hosts many activities including sheep shows, Zorbing, the Luge, zip-lines, sky swing etc. Waitomo Caves is a two-hour drive West where you can enjoy blackwater rafting or explore the Glowworm Caves.
