Cochrane is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains between Calgary and Banff and is a recreation playground for families, adventure enthusiasts and those seeking rest and relaxation in a beautiful natural setting. Cochrane combines a proud western heritage with spectacular vistas of the rolling foothills and majestic Rocky Mountains, with all the modern conveniences required for a great feast. Banff National Park is only an hour drive down the road. Canmore is even closer. Lake Louise is less than two hours away.
Cochrane has something for everyone, from quad rentals, horseback riding and hiking through original ranch country, to spending the day enjoying quaint shops, boutiques, dining establishments and the Spray Lakes Sawmill Family Sports Centre. You can also spend the afternoon visiting the galleries, enjoying the talents of a number of recognized artisans, musicians and writers that call Cochrane home.
Cochrane is about a half hour drive from the Calgary International Airport (YYC). Calgary has many attractions including the famous Calgary Zoo, Heritage Park with its historic buildings and car museum, the world class Glenbow Museum, the Telus Science Center, Calaway Park (the largest amusement park in Western Canada), and Winsport, which features North America's fastest zip line as well as a four-man summer bobsleigh sliding track. You can also ride more than 25 kilometers of mountain bike trails, enjoy a scenic round of 18-hole mini-golf or skate at the Markin MacPhail Centre. Then, of course, there is always shopping!
