2017 Cincinnati Winter Family Weekend

For over two decades now, the Winter Family Weekend has provided an opportunity for friends and family in God’s Church to gather for fun and fellowship at the time when many students and workers have a break in their normal schedules. Cincinnati hosted the event in the 1990s before it moved to Lexington, Kentucky, then to Louisville, and finally back to Southwestern Ohio in 2011.

This winter, the Great Wolf Lodge will again provide a comfortable setting for the WFW, holding room rates at the same level as the past two years. Along with a Friday evening Bible study and church services, the Sabbath will also feature seminars for teens and adults, with youth instruction for preteens. During evenings at the Great Wolf conference center will host dances, a game room, a career networking event, a performing arts showcase, a band showcase and Jelly’s Game Show. The prom dress exchange and ABC seminars will occur during the days, and, of course, the waterpark will be open all day.

Nearby sports facilities will be the site for three days of volleyball and basketball, along with two opportunities for preteens to enjoy organized games together. Most participants form teams in advance, but individuals have the opportunity to form teams or join existing ones upon arriving.  All of the events—but especially the sports—benefit greatly by having people register at the WFW website. If you plan to join us, please don’t stop at reserving a hotel room, please also assist us in planning by visiting www.ucg.org/members/winter-family-weekend/winter-family-weekend-2017 and registering.

It seems hard to imagine a better way for more than a thousand of God’s people to share a few days together at the start of winter. The majority of participants usually come from within a day’s drive, but it is common for people to travel from across the country, or even overseas to join in the fun. Winter Family Weekend will be here soon, so now is the time to make plans!
