2017 Feast of Tabernacles
Passikudah, Sri Lanka
There were 72 brethren who rejoiced and worshiped God together for eight wonderful days. Inspiring messages, close family camaraderie and delicious shared meals at the hotel restaurant buffet were hallmarks of the Feast. Staying together in the same resort and having daily meals together yielded a millennial atmosphere as Sri Lankan and overseas brethren grew to love one another and soon became like family.
The messages during the Feast were both encouraging and thought-provoking.
Sri Lankans and visitors alike enjoyed many Feast activities: a fun-filled family day with a wide variety of team games and challenges, a variety show displaying participants’ talents and humor, an exciting game of cricket, a family dance with activities for young and old and some great splashes in the pool with friends.
A Feast tradition continued on “saree day,” as the ladies dressed in sarees of a variety of beautiful colors and patterns for the Sabbath. Visiting members were encouraged to participate, and the local ladies supplied extra sarees for all to wear.
A safari excursion to the Kaudulla National Park was also enjoyed during the Feast for all brethren. We rode in jeeps through round terrain as herds of wild elephants were spotted throughout the adventure.
The 2017 Feast in Sri Lanka was uplifting and fulfilling for all. God’s people were encouraged to press toward the goal of His Kingdom in every aspect of their lives this coming year.
For those interested in enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime experience in a part of the world many seldom visit, you are encouraged to come to “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean” and rejoice with your brothers and sisters at the Feast in 2018.
