2018 Feast of Tabernacles

Margate, South Africa

The messages focused on encouragement to endure to the end, staying committed, and the attributes we need to be developing now to be part of the incredible future pictured by the Feast of Tabernacles and Eighth Day. Emphasis was placed on fellowshipping and spending as much time as possible together, with numerous opportunities provided to do so. There were two lively interactive Bible discussions; a well-attended lunch for our senior citizens at a beautiful hotel; an afternoon of fun and games for a group of very enthusiastic young ones, which included a treasure hunt, cupcake decorating and lots of fun group activities encouraging working together and sharing; a family day, providing an opportunity to share a meal together; and a family dinner-dance.

The Eighth Day also provided a great opportunity to spend the day together, with two services and an abundant potluck meal in between.

During the service on the fifth day we were reminded of the unpredictability of this life and our need to look to God always to provide—part of the roof of our meeting hall started to show signs of caving in, and while we were able to complete the service, we then had to immediately vacate for the remainder of our time there.

Despite the challenge of finding a new meeting place for the next day, and ultimately using two different venues for the remainder of the Feast and Eighth Day (one of which was generously provided by a Living Church of God congregation not too far away), the spirit of unity and enthusiasm was by no means dampened. The desire and determination by all to continue having an inspiring Feast was truly encouraging, and many stepped in and went the extra mile to maintain the momentum and enjoyment of the Feast, and the effort truly paid off.

There was also some discussion around the significance of this happening, as only weeks earlier it had been announced we would be moving to another Feast site, specifically with the goal of providing a venue that would enable us to all be located closer together, allowing more opportunity for fellowship.

Overall, a wonderful Feast, with enthusiastic attendees determined not to let circumstance dictate their Feast experience. We look forward to the Feast of Tabernacles 2019, and God willing, we’ll see you in Mossel Bay.
