2021 Feast of Tabernacles

Nkhwazi, Malawi

Despite the COVID-19 fears, our Feast preparation went on well. You may be interested to know that since its inception as a Feast site in 2019, the brethren have used tents and made booths made of reeds or grass for their temporary homes as you may see in some of the pictures. This adds excitement and beauty for Feastgoers. We also have a big field which accommodates a lot of sporting activities during the Feast.

The opening sermon started at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 with an attendance of 82 brethren, which kept changing each day; some days attendance went up to 96 people. We had three main speakers at the Feast all from the local congregation. The youth were assigned one day during the Feast to conduct the service; it was wonderful to see how they handled the day. Our Sabbath school kids recited Bible verses during the service almost daily, and the mothers also played a big role at the Feast by singing songs which were related to the occasion. Most of the messages came from the booklet, God’s Holy Day Plan: The Promise of Hope for All Mankind. This was done knowing that we have a lot of new brethren in the church.

We also had several social activities. Our senior citizens shared a special meal, told stories and experiences in the Church. The Sabbath school kids also enjoyed having new friends and shared meals and snacks plus sporting activities. On the youth day, after services, the youth organized a sports event with the local community. We were entertained by football (soccer) and netball. It was an exciting event to mix with the community for a while during the Feast. Every morning, except high days and the weekly Sabbath, the whole camp was gathered at the site’s field for aerobics, which also included lessons about team work.

We concluded the Feast with the blessing of little children on the Eighth Day; we had six children, all from the Nkhwazi congregation, blessed by the elders who were present at the Feast. May the Almighty God continue blessing the Church and encouraging us to follow His ways.
