ABC Orientation Launches Largest Class

Amidst fish swimming in fishbowls and beautiful décor in the dining area, the seventh class to attend Ambassador Bible Center enjoyed this year's orientation on Jan. 8. Coming from seven international areas and the United States , the class of 2006 gathered for the first time at the home office for the seventh ABC orientation.

The theme for this year's class is "Preparing to Serve and Lead." After David Johnson opened the afternoon with prayer, David Register emceed the proceedings and brought information about the overall program to the 53 students who were present. Gary Antion and Ralph Levy presented information from their areas of responsibility to help the students become acquainted with ABC.

Four students, Joy Porter (2002), Mark Holladay (2003), Daniel Peabody (2004) and Jessa Moser (2005), brought brief speeches encouraging the students to get the most out of and give the most to the ABC program.

Clyde Kilough gave the keynote address encouraging the students to properly orient their lives. He compared life to an orienteering course, and explained that we must use the detailed "map" and "compass" God gives us to navigate the many choices and milestones of life. We must strive to fulfill the purpose for which we're created.

Peter and Terri Eddington and Lisa Fenchel worked very diligently to plan and set up the décor and food for this special occasion. Greg McCloud and Dave Johnson made the lecture hall ready for the event.

Ably assisting with the food were several members of the Church. Laura Fenger, Becky Johnson, Cindy Phelps and Joy Porter served tirelessly. Kathy de Campos prepared all of the information packets, badges and the welcoming banner. Several of the ABC graduates helped with the name badges and handouts as well as the food service.

Delicious hot and cold hors d'oeuvres were served along with delectable desserts. Cold beverages were served to add to the enjoyment and pleasure of the nearly 130 who were in attendance. This was the largest attendance at orientation that we have had as many home office staff attended along with family members and some friends of the new students.

Several comments by the students were sent to the faculty, staff and volunteers in appreciation:

"Thank you so much. You make it that much more wonderful to be here."

"What a wonderful welcome you gave us all. Thank you so much for all your work and dedication to the students!"

"You have all given us a warm welcome and we appreciate your kindness."

"Thank you for your loving welcome. It has made the transition to Cincinnati easier."

"Thank you for making this feel like a new home."

After such a successful orientation, we look forward to a wonderful year with the class of 2006! UN
