Chattanooga, Tennessee, Hosts Successful Ocoee Rafting Weekend

During the weekend of August 5, the Chattanooga congregation sponsored its annual Ocoee River White Water Rafting outing. The Ocoee River was the site of the 1996 Olympic kayaking competition and has class IV and V rapids. Many families, coming from as far as Illinois and Florida, camped for the entire weekend at the Chilhowee Recreation area of the Cherokee National Forest.

On Sabbath morning, Roy Holladay conducted a Bible study in the campground on the topic of the return of Jesus Christ and the events that will take place just prior to his coming. There were approximately 80 campers in attendance, including a large contingent of teenagers and young adults.

On Sunday morning everyone packed up their tents, and a full slate of 72 individuals braved the exciting and exhilarating cool rapids of the Ocoee. The trip lasted approximately two hours, and to the relief of the event coordinator, all 72 returned safely with smiles on their faces. The annual event is held each year on the first weekend in August.
