Home Office Weekly Update

February 29, 2024

From the President . . .

Greetings, brethren,

The Council of Elders concluded their meetings here in Cincinnati earlier today. As you may have seen from the agenda that was distributed last week, the agenda was quite full, with meetings extending into the evening on several days.

This week, one of the key items on the docket was the presentation and review of the Strategic Plan, Operation Plan and Budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. Considerable time goes into the preparation of these documents that provide the direction for the Church’s efforts over the next year. I am happy to report that all three documents were approved by the Council, and will now go to the General Conference of Elders for approval. We will continue the Work as God has been leading us.

Several other items were discussed this week. The Council report will be distributed within the next day or two that will summarize the events of the week.

Please always ask for God’s guidance and will to be done in His Work. As we live in a troubled world that will only become more troubled and uncertain as we move into the coming months, we all need to remain focused on God and be ever drawing closer to Him.

Take care, brethren. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

In Christian love,
Rick Shabi

U.S. Print Advertising from March to June 2024

The United Church of God will conclude its 2023-24 fiscal year print advertising campaign from March to June 2024 with four major ad rollouts and four ad tests designed to accomplish its vital commission to preach the gospel of God’s Kingdom.

Along with our robust digital advertising promotions on Google, Bing, YouTube, Roku and other platforms which generate multiple millions of advertising impressions each year, our print advertising campaign also reaches vast numbers of people annually. Through the use of “remnant” advertising, which is surplus space available in weekly coupon circulars, we pay only a fraction of the cost of regular ad space. As a result, we are able to obtain excellent cost-per-response—even as our ads appear alongside those of other businesses and organizations which pay much higher prices.

Through Valassis Communications, Inc. during March, April, May and June, our ads will be placed in weekly circulars—reaching over 72 million households. The Bible study aids to be advertised include, “Jesus Christ: The Real Story,” “Angels: God’s Messengers and Spirit Army,” “Seven Prophetic Signs Before Jesus Returns” and “Heaven and Hell: What Does the Bible Really Teach?”

Furthermore, in each of those four months we will be utilizing the services of Mspark Mail & Digital Advertising, Inc., which exclusively reaches rural consumers, to test our ads going to over 8,000 households. The Bible study aids to be advertised include, “Angels: God’s Messengers and Spirit Army,” “Seven Prophetic Signs Before Jesus Returns,” “Heaven and Hell: What Does the Bible Really Teach?” and an ad promoting Beyond Today magazine titled, “Jesus Christ’s Advance News” (shown below). Depending on how these ads perform, we hope to roll them out in forthcoming ad campaigns.

As always, your specific prayers for God’s guidance, direction and blessing will be greatly appreciated for these efforts during the remaining months of this fiscal year. In addition, please pray for the development of our plans for the upcoming 2024-25 fiscal year ad campaign and other important efforts to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and the coming Kingdom of God.
