Scott Buchanan

The United Church of God media department has recently hired Scott Buchanan as a video editor. Scott earned a degree in electronic media and broadcasting from Northern Kentucky University in 2014 and looks forward to using his skills to serve the Church. He grew up in Maryland before moving to Ohio and then to Oregon. He and his wife, Lauren, along with their two young daughters, have now relocated to the Cincinnati, Ohio, area. Scott’s diverse background also includes teaching physical education, window cleaning, and working as a barista, news channel intern and river raft guide. His interests include writing, marine biology, photography, cooking and storytelling. He also possesses critical media skills including podcasting and short video production experience.

Scott’s responsibilities in this new position will include creating and sending out the DVDs and CDs for the sermon disc program, recording and editing the Inside United podcast, and other various responsibilities relating to video and audio editing within the media department.

One bonus to the job, Scott said, was “working with a group of people I’ve known and grown up with. We are all very open and give good feedback and encouragement on projects.” He also looks forward to working on any upcoming Jelly videos, growing his skill set and helping to create engaging content for younger Church members to make them feel appreciated and wanted.

Sarah Howard

Sarah Howard was hired by the United Church of God as manager for the Mail Processing Center. Sarah grew up in Peebles, Ohio, and attended Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. Her undergraduate work was done in the natural sciences before earning a master’s degree in safety management. She considers herself a Jack-of-all-trades, with varied interests and diversified skills. As a detail-oriented and well-organized person, Sarah has experience working in an office and looks forward to continuing to develop the skills this job will require.

Sarah, her husband, Scott, and their children spent a year in Waco, Texas, where Scott worked for SpaceX. They have now relocated to Ohio so Sarah can begin her new role at the home office.

In this new role as the mail processing manager for UCG, Sarah will supervise incoming and outgoing mail processing for domestic and international areas, coordinate the shipping and receiving of mail, supplies and literature, USPS, UPS, DHL and FedEx shipments, and coordinate and administer distribution and maintenance of files and records of DVDs and CDs. She looks forward to working with fellow Church members and is excited to be a part of the process by which literature is sent to members, subscribers and potential members.

The home office staff looks forward to working with Scott and Sarah as they transition into these new roles.
