Ninety-nine Ladies Enjoyed a Change-of-Pace Women’s Enrichment Weekend in Southern California

This past Feb. 6-8, 99 ladies enjoyed and profited from Southern California’s 14th annual Women’s Enrichment Weekend. Instead of our usual hotel setting we chose a state-of-the-art outdoor education center owned by the Boy Scouts. From our meeting hall we could enjoy seeing the green hills and nature (in Southern California, this is a treat). The theme was “Go For It—God’s Way.” We did just that at this weekend.

We appreciated having Steve and Melania Nutzman join us from Idaho to be guest speakers. Mr. Nutzman gave the sermon Sabbath morning titled “Mentoring—Go for It God’s Way.” The sermon was preceded by three special music presentations: a violin duet by Naia Hooker and Ia Reyes and vocal solos by Ingrid Helge and Laura Roberts. On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Nutzman gave the theme overview “Going Forward—God’s Way,” followed by Caty Seiglie who shared some of the challenges of Church women in Latin America.

Later Saturday afternoon Jean Marini, Laura Roberts and Yadira Vargas reinforced the theme by sharing their varied personal experiences and lessons. After dinner together in the meeting hall, we enjoyed the creative and innovative talents of some of our ladies in a variety show organized by Ingrid Helge.

Sunday morning Lorelei Nettles, Alina Miller and Erika Schmid continued sharing personal experiences. After the early session and before lunch many took advantage of some of what the facility had to offer. Many of the ladies tried their hand at zip-lining and had a blast! Others opted for Zumba/line dancing in the meeting hall. More enjoyed watching these happy ladies or enjoyed their own peaceful walk in nature.

Sunday afternoon Margaret Saarinen shared “Secrets of a Confident Woman,” and Becky Garnant closed the presentations by answering the question “What is ‘It’?” Sylvia Kennedy expertly wove the presentations together as our moderator.

This year our ladies not only learned more how to “Go For It—God’s Way,” but were able to apply those lessons and tools directly during the course of this special event.
