Thirty preteen campers enjoyed a very successful camp in the Piney Woods of East Texas, and 13 teen staff helpers were joined by several dozen adults comprising an imported staff, along with many of the local East Texas brethren.
Everyone went above and beyond so all could enjoy the many different types of activities at camp. The water activities (swimming, fishing, dunking booth, bounce house with sprinkler, water balloon fight) are always popular in the warm Texas summer weather. Other fun activities included bow making, archery, baking, kickball, dodgeball and of course multiple sessions of gaga ball.
Our theme for the camp followed the teen camp theme “Guided by God’s Word.”
Our compass checks and our activities were based on this theme. Parents were on hand to see the end of camp awards ceremony, where the campers sang two music pieces—“God’s Word” and “Hide Your Word in My Heart.” We give thanks to our Heavenly Father who has blessed this camp so tremendously. It was amazing how most of our outdoor activities took place under cloud cover and cooler breezes; not the sunny 99 degrees predicted in the forecast.
God answered so many prayers that were lifted up asking for His guidance and direction in all that was done.
