Chinese President Xi wants China to be great. What do their ambitions portend for the future?
China is methodically expanding its reach throughout the world using its monetary gain. They are investing in the subcontinent of Africa and have invested over $70 billion over the last five years, making it the continent’s largest investor with 287 projects. Since its launch at the beginning of 2020, the U.S. has invested by comparison a mere $8 billion in 300 projects in Africa, along with the U.S. Agency for International Development, which is working on $10 billion worth of deals.
In 2022 the Chinese Red Dragon’s chief 15 trading partners do 63.7 percent of the business with the nation, the United States doing $582.8 billion or 16.2 percent of China’s total exports.
Some nations are stepping up their business with China. Singapore increased its import purchases from mainland China at the fastest rate, up 47k percent from 2021 to 2022. In second place were importers in India, thanks to a 21.5 percent gain, trailed by Malaysia (up 19.1 percent), Australia (up 18.7 percent), Mexico (up 15 percent), Netherlands (up 14.9 percent), and Thailand (up 13.2 percent). There were two year-over-year decliners, namely Hong Kong (down, -14.7 percent) and the United Kingdom (down, -6.3 percent from 2021).
An interesting point to consider is the western powers and pro-west Southeast Asian powers who make up a major part of China’s nearly $18 Trillion 2022 GDP. Financial issues play a heavy role, and to be at odds with China is a negative to maintain the status quo.
Rise of the Red Dragon
Fifty years ago, China could not have done what it is doing now. It has made magnificent advances in the space race. Its self-built space station, also known as Tiangong, or Celestial Palace in Chinese, has been fully operational since late 2022. China plans to expand its space station to six modules from three in coming years, offering astronauts from other nations an alternative platform for near-Earth missions as the NASA-led International Space Station (ISS) nears the end of its lifespan.
In the past there was only one nation in East Asia capable of commanding the respect of Asiatic nations. Only one Asian nation had proven it can lead, and that was Japan. Rising from the ash heap of World War II, Japan became one of the most industrially powerful nations on earth. Japanese products fill markets and stores of every civilized country, and especially in Southeast Asia. However, today China boasts an $18 Trillion GDP (2022) compared to Japan’s $5 Trillion economy.
Suppose the western powers pulled back from East Asia? Communist China has ambitions of conquest and leadership. Xi’s ultimate ambition is captured in the slogan “the China Dream,” a dream of national rejuvenation in which every Chinese person is commanded to share. Xi’s “national rejuvenation” amounts to a “re-creation” of the mythical Tianxia international order. It is Xi's Chinese version of “Make America Great Again.”
It seems like the United States is looking away as the rising monster of China grows stronger. No one is holding China responsible for the COVID-19 virus which was undoubtedly produced in a Wuhan laboratory, and either accidentally or purposely was leaked to the public. In the United States alone around 103 million people contracted the virus and over a million people died.
The United Kingdom transferred Hong Kong to Chinese rule on July 1, 1997. This ended 156 years of British governance over its former colony, which began in 1841. The handover marked the end of British colonial prestige in the Asia-Pacific region where it never recovered from the second World War.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that "reunification" with Taiwan "must be fulfilled," as increased tensions over the island continue. Communist China persists by staging events to show their military power. It is advantageous for China to reunite with Taiwan because of its $828 Billion economy. Taiwan is one of the biggest semiconductor fabrication builders in the world.
Rejection of American Dominance
Since 2018, China has been at war against the United States. They are teaming up with Russia, Iran, North Korea and other nations to fight against the hegemony of the United States. Hegemony is defined as leadership or dominance, especially by one country, over other countries. They want to throw off that yoke of the dominance of the U.S.
In 2023 two alliances have officially ditched the U.S dollar for global trade. In March 2023, the ASEAN bloc was the first to decide not to use the dollar for international transactions. In August the BRICS alliance of 10 nations, which includes China, Russia, Iran, Philippines and India, followed suit with the ASEAN bloc. Thus far 21 nations have rejected the dollar.
The demise of the British Empire came, and now we near the fall of the United States. Prophecy shows that modern Israelite nations—the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia and others—are destined to be destroyed and suffer captivity in the beginning of the tribulation.
Prophetic scriptures indicate eastern powers, like China, will possess great military might, and they will overthrow United States domination. The kings of the east, a kind of Oriental confederacy, which will include the Chinese and other nations, will be stirred up and drawn by demonic spirits to fight at the final conflict.
Daniel 11:40-43 speaks of the King of the North or Antichrist. Its armies are successful in subduing the King of the South. Daniel then records in verse 44 this prophecy: “But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore, he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many.”
News from the east and north would be the great hordes of China, Russia and other nations in league with them. Revelation 16:12-16 reveals:
“Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. ‘Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.’ And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.”
Especially note how God admonishes us in these times of extraordinary conflict: “Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Albert Barnes Commentary explains “he who watches”: “The meaning here is, that he who watches for these events, who marks the indications of their approach, and who is conscious of a preparation for them, is in a better and happier state of mind than he on whom they come suddenly and unexpectedly.”

More than 20 Chinese warplanes were detected around Taiwan, with 11 crossing a sensitive median line separating the self-ruled island from China, Taipei’s defence ministry said Thursday, the first significant show of force since the weekend’s presidential election.
The ministry, which releases data daily on the Chinese military presence around Taiwan, said Thursday that 24 warplanes and 5 ships had been detected in the 24 hours leading up to 6 am (2200 GMT).
‘11 of the detected aircraft had crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait or entered Taiwan’s southwest and north (air defence identification zone),’ the ministry said in a statement.
Democratic Taiwan has its own government, military and currency — but China claims it as its territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring it under its control.

Writing at the Gatestone Institute on Dec. 20, 2023, Lawrence Franklin laid out the extensive scope of China’s "Unrestricted Warfare" multi-front war against the United States (U.S.).
We’ll recall that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s mouthpiece outlet at Xinhua News literally declared a "people’s war" against us in May 2018.
While many at the time reported that as a mere tit-for-tat in the then-ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, those who’ve read "Unrestricted Warfare" know it’s something far more comprehensive and far more threatening.
We’ve seen the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) regularly harassing U.S. air and naval forces, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines and other Western allies in the Taiwan Straits, the South China Sea, and beyond.
We've watched the CCP’s surveillance balloons lazily traverse Canadian and U.S. territory, passing over important military bases en route.
Thanks to Spain’s "Safeguard Defenders," we know about Beijing’s "secret police stations."
When then-U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo closed China’s Houston consulate in August 2020, the reasons given included espionage and intellectual property theft.
It took an article from Radio Free Asia to explain the more likely reason: the PLA had sent an undercover tech team to Houston to compile a list of Americans who might be persuaded to join in the Antifa/Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots that summer and then send them how-to videos over Tik-Tok.
Confucius Institutes and Thousand Talents programs infiltrate academia and co-opt U.S. professors.
The complete refusal of U.S. academia, Congress, government, media, or public health to forthrightly hold the CCP-PLA to account for their offensive Biological Warfare (BW) program that unleashed the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the entire world sends a message of weakness and appeasement to the Beijing regime.
But more recently, another "unrestricted warfare" operation menaces Americans. This one is physical, it’s military, and it’s here.

China’s top diplomat warned Sunday that any steps towards Taiwan’s independence would be ‘harshly punished’, after the self-ruled island defied Beijing’s warnings and chose pro-sovereignty candidate Lai Ching-te as president.
Voters on the island spurned Beijing’s repeated calls not to vote for Lai, delivering a comfortable victory for a man China’s ruling Communist Party sees as a dangerous separatist.
Beijing, which claims Taiwan as its territory and has never renounced force to bring it under its control, responded to Lai’s victory by saying it would not change the ‘inevitable trend of China’s reunification’.
‘If anyone on the island of Taiwan thinks of going for independence, they will be trying to split apart China’s territory, and will certainly be harshly punished by both history and the law,’ Wang Yi said in a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.
‘This is a dead end,’ he added.
‘No matter what the results of the election are, they cannot change the basic fact that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of it,’ Wang said Sunday.

North Korea said Monday it had successfully test-fired a new ballistic missile tipped with a hypersonic maneuverable warhead, the latest breakthrough in its pursuit of advanced weaponry to threaten South Korean and US targets.
The launch, Pyongyang’s first known weapons test this year and its first ever test of a solid-fuel hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), was detected by Seoul’s military Sunday afternoon.
A short report in the official Korean Central News Agency said that the solid-fuel IRMB was ‘loaded with a hypersonic maneuverable controlled warhead.’
The test was meant to verify ‘the gliding and maneuvering characteristics’ of the warhead and the ‘reliability of newly developed multi-stage high-thrust solid-fuel engines,’ KCNA said.
KCNA said that Sunday’s launch ‘never affected the security of any neighbouring country and had nothing to do with the regional situation.’
But it came just days after Pyongyang staged live-fire exercises near the country’s tense maritime border with South Korea, which prompted counter-exercises and evacuation orders for some South Korean border islands.

Taiwan told China on Sunday to "face reality" and respect its election result, after voters defied Beijing's warnings and chose pro-sovereignty candidate Lai Ching-te as president.

Beijing, which claims Taiwan as its territory and has never renounced force to bring it under its control, responded to Lai's victory by saying it would not change the "inevitable trend of China's reunification".
Lai, of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), had vowed to defend the island from China's "intimidation" and on Sunday the island's foreign ministry told Beijing to accept the result.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Beijing authorities to respect the election results, face reality and give up suppressing Taiwan in order for positive cross-strait interactions to return to the right track," it said in a statement.
An unofficial US delegation sent by President Joe Biden's administration will arrive in Taipei on Sunday, a move sure to anger Beijing. The delegation, including a former US national security adviser and a former deputy secretary of state will meet "a range of leading political figures" on Monday, the island's de facto US embassy said in a statement. The statement did not say how long the visit would last.
