Updates from Ministerial and Member Services

On Dec. 8, 2018, Warren Poffenroth was ordained into the ministry. He and his wife, Heidi, serve in the Calgary, Alberta, Canada, congregation.

On the Sabbath of Dec.15, two new assistant pastors were announced in Phoenix, Arizona. Scott McKeon now assists pastor Jim Tuck in the Northwest Phoenix area and Monte Knudson serves in the Phoenix East area. The Phoenix church became two congregations in January. Phoenix area elders and speakers also help serve the Northern Arizona congregation as well as Show Low, Arizona, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

On Dec. 29, Jonathan Hill was ordained into the ministry. He and his wife, Carol, serve in the San Jose, California, congregation. On Jan. 5, 2019, James Malizia was ordained into the ministry. He and his wife, Stacey, serve in the San Francisco Bay area, California, congregation. On the same day, Tom Meece was ordained into the ministry. He and his wife, Terry, serve in the Petaluma, California, congregation.

Due to the death of pastor Roger Korthuis on Jan. 15, Mr. John Elliott was appointed the interim pastor for the congregation in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

In February, Mr. Stan Martin was transferred to serve as pastor for congregations in Dallas/Ft. Worth (Texas), and Lawton (Oklahoma). We thank Mr. Fred Whitlark for his service as interim pastor for those congregations.

Mr. Doug Wendt has relocated to Tampa, Florida, where he now serves as pastor for the congregations in Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Mr. Nick Lamoureux of the Southern New Hampshire congregation was hired to serve as a Project Coordinator in Malawi. Nick and his wife, Megan, moved to Lilongwe, Malawi, in February.

Those of us in MMS greatly appreciate your prayers, support, and encouragement for those men and wives who will be making these changes to serve God and His people in these specific areas.
