“Walking By Faith”—Southwest Missouri Women’s Enrichment Weekend 2015
Learning opportunities at the Women's Enrichment Weekend were punctuated with laughter, sharing and encouragement.
The weekend began on Friday evening with a light dinner and get-acquainted activity. Peter Eddington spoke at Sabbath services, where nearly 100 members gathered. His sermon was entitled “Perfect Practice Makes Perfect,” showcasing the life of Miriam. Throughout the weekend, music was provided by the Kansas City and Springfield Women’s Ensembles with accompaniment by Judy Noel.
Linda Wasilkoff started off our presentations, talking about what it takes to learn to walk and comparing it to our spiritual journey of faith. Other speakers included Linda Boswell, Deana Kemp, Christal Curtis, Kathleen Urbom, Dorothy Schmidt, Glenda Dennis, and Donna Robinson. A highlight for all was Evelyn Eslinger’s presentation entitled “My 60-Year Journey of Faith.”
This year’s service project supported LifeNets International. The money collected will go towards a scholarship for a member to attend university in Tonga. He will be studying agriculture, which will help support his family as well as the community.
Food throughout the weekend was provided by various church areas including Tulsa/Oklahoma, St. Louis, Springfield, and congregations in Alabama and Georgia. This support helps keep this weekend affordable for most.
Comments about the weekend included the opportunity to learn from other women and building lasting relationships. One woman stated, “It’s inspirational to see the perseverance and faith of these women through their trials.” Several women referenced how uplifting the weekend was and stated that they would be back next year!
