In February 2018 Cyclone Gita became the strongest storm to make landfall in Tonga in 60 years.
In February 2018 Cyclone Gita caused widespread damage across Tonga through flooding and downed trees. The most damage was caused to and by trees, breaking branches and even uprooted trees created significant damage. The church hall received a significant amount of damage. One of the principal rafters was torn along with three iron sheets. As for the inside, there is need of new paint and new carpet along with new frames for the louvers. The small house for the church bathroom has been completely destroyed. The house next to it was also completely wiped out; it was used for storage, and all the chairs, etc. have been ruined.
The local members will provide the labor for repairs.
