From Sunday, July 24-31, a British Isles family camp was held. This camp, which was substantially funded by UCG British Isles, welcomed 80 campers, parents and staff from England, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Estonia and the Netherlands. The Wilderness Centre near Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, an English country estate with 30 acres and glorious views, was the perfect location for a week of adventure, bonding and new experiences for campers aged 4-18 years old.

Instructors from the Wilderness Centre led activities onsite including air riflery, archery, crate stacking with high ropes, orienteering, bushcraft, team building and crawling through an underground tunnel maze.

On two other days we ventured further afield to local attractions. Our first excursion was an exhausting yet satisfying morning canoeing and kayaking on the River Wye. Our second trip was to the Clearwell Caves where we explored the old iron mine and limestone cave system. An added bonus was the magnificent underground sculpture exhibition and a mid-caving experience for those who were feeling more adventurous!

Campers slept in tents or dorms and participated in daily Bible discussions on the camp theme, “The Armor of God.” On the Sabbath, several brethren from the Gloucester congregation visited.

Parents and volunteers prepared delicious meals for the large group, as well as providing arts and crafts and sporting activities and leading special music.

There were many opportunities to fellowship, catch up with old friends and make new ones. Most importantly, it was a very joyful, challenging and positive experience for the younger generation of God’s Church, and we are thankful for His blessing on this event and for making this reunion possible.
