From Epifanio Rey Evasco:

"With the theme, “Becoming Sons and Daughters of God,” United Youth Camps Philippines 2022 was held at Eden Nature Park and Resort in Davao City July 17-23. A total of 48 campers made up two female and two male dorms. Serving them were 32 volunteer staff. The camp was filled with a spiritually uplifting series of Christian living classes (CLCs), carefully planned workshops and outdoor activities.

"Each day started with prayer and meditation time, housekeeping, physical exercise and a hearty breakfast. CLCs provided spiritual food for the campers before participating in workshops and activities scheduled for the day. The CLCs covered an overview of this year’s themes: steps in becoming sons and daughters of God, making the right choices, and baptism counseling. Every day concluded with a compass check, in which campers and staff shared lessons learned during the day.

"The workshops included first-aid training, personality development, career guidance, dance, basic journalism, public speaking, song leading, webcasting, baking, soap-making and flower arrangement.

"Campers enjoyed sports activities like basketball, softball, soccer and swimming. Each camper conquered his/her fear of heights by going on sky rides harnessed to overhead cables: zipline, sky cycle and sky wheel.

"On the sixth day (Friday), the campers went fishing, trekking and hiking to hone their wilderness skills. Campers got to cook rice and chicken in bamboo on an open fire while broiling corn and grilling hotdogs on the side. The day concluded with a Bible forum where campers had the opportunity to ask questions.

"The camp concluded on the Sabbath of July 23 with a Bible Bowl in the morning, Sabbath services in the afternoon, a Filipiñana-themed talent show and a recognition program in the evening. Leadership, Extra-Mile, Congeniality, and Most Improved Camper awards were given to deserving campers. Campers and staff came in Filipino costumes, performed Philippine folk songs and dances and were treated to Filipino food.

"Departures on Sunday morning were punctuated with tearful goodbyes as campers and staff bade each other farewell. This, by far, was our best camp ever!"
