After two years of not being able to physically attend the fall festivals of God, the Sabah brethren observed the Feast of Tabernacles and the Eighth Day at Shan Shui Golf Course and Resort located near the forest reserve of Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia, which has been the Feast site since 2009. The resort is only a 15 minute drive away from the Tawau Airport and the city center, making it accessible to everyone.

The highest attendance this year was 42 with Mr. and Mrs. David and Denise Dobson serving the first half of the Feast and Mr. and Mrs. Iyarmoon and Eunice Dulay, a deacon from Mindanao, Philippines, serving until the Eighth Day.

On the third day, the resort sponsored a barbeque dinner that showcased some of the authentic Malaysian cuisines, while the pre-recorded variety show presentations from both the Mindanao and Sabah congregations were played for everyone to enjoy. Family day, sports, a fruit festival, youth day and the leisure tour to the nearby hot spring were some of the highlights of the Feast.

The brethren enjoyed and were inspired by the messages centered on the theme taken from Hebrews 2:10: “. . . bringing many sons and daughters to glory.” The youth and singles engaged actively during the Bible study session with a focus on the Seven Laws of Success by Herbert Armstrong and how they relate to the modern challenges they are facing in terms of achieving the ultimate goal, the Kingdom of God. There were also sessions tailor-fitted for the specific needs and responsibilities of men and women in the Church during the men’s and women’s socials, which were held separately.

The picturesque view of the forest reserve and the jungle mountain landscape, which served as a backdrop to the festival site, the teeming wildlife picturing that of the wonderful world tomorrow and the warmth and love shared by the brethren, made this Feast of Tabernacles and Eighth Day a memorable and profitable one.
