Wait on the Lord

We live in a difficult time and in a troubled world, but God never wants us to lose heart. He wants us to be continually encouraged in our faith while we patiently wait for His kingdom to appear. We look for what we cannot yet see, but God says, "Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord" (Psalms 31:24).

This means exercising our faith, putting it to work, every day of our lives. This means action on our part to wait on God and believe that He will do what He says. If we do that, God will not leave us without hope; He will be with us and see us through to the end. As David wrote, "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!" (Psalms 27:14).

The troubles in the world caused by ignorance and disregard for the knowledge of God seem overwhelming. And now we are in another Christmas season which offers mankind only vain hope for peace and a brighter future. The most distressing calendar year in our memory is about to end, but what will the next year bring, but more trouble?  But even in all of this, "Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield" (Psalms 33:20).

God says, "Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: for yet a little while, and He Who is coming will come and will not tarry" (Hebrews 10:35-37). Put your trust in God to do what He has promised; wait in hope for the Lord. He "is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him" (Lamentations 3:25)! Therefore "Be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord" (James 5:7)!

Warm regards,

Andy
