Lighten Your Burden
Life comes with much responsibility, and there is no easy way to make it into the Kingdom of God. Anyone committed to reaching that goal will not cast off the daily weight of responsibility that comes with it. Christ said, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24).
It is a heavy burden, but God does not want you to bear it alone. He said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Christ will carry most of the load. Your responsibility is to trust Him to do that and to keep going. He says, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me...for My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:29-30).
We live in the "perilous times" of which Paul wrote in 2 Timothy. There is powerful temptation to give in to the pressure and to cast off your responsibility to God. But even though the world is a troubled place, where Christ said, "you will have tribulation" (John 16:33), never think that God cannot help you bear your daily load. Rather, as Jesus added, "be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (Same verse).
So, patiently bear up under your daily responsibilities, and let Christ make your burden light. With each passing day, make the effort to reach a little farther toward your goal. Remember that you "can do all things through Christ who strengthens" you (Philippians 4:13). Indeed, as David wrote, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you" (Psalms 55:22)!
