The Narrow Gate

Hello Brethren,

The word of God shows the way to navigate through life, especially the hard times. Following that way is not taking the easy path. Christ told us to go through the "narrow gate" that is "difficult" to find and "which leads to life." He said that "there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14).

Anyone following the road to the narrow gate must "deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow" Christ. (Luke 9:23). If you want to stay on that path, you must "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). You must endure the "testing of your faith" which "produces patience" (James 1:3), and you must keep yourself "unspotted from the world" (James 1:27). Most people will not choose to go through the narrow gate because it is too hard. They will choose the "wide gate" and the "broad way that leads to destruction" (Matthew 7:13).

The word of God shows you how to find the narrow gate and how to stay on the difficult way. The psalmist said God's "word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalms 119:105). His word shows us the way, but our constant challenge is to stay on that path. We must make our "eyes look straight ahead," not turn "to the right or the left" and keep our "foot from evil" (Proverbs 4:25-27). God will help you to do that as You trust Him to keep you on the path of life.

Finding the narrow gate is a hard and difficult way to go through life, but the reward is worth every effort. For the one who endures "will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him" (James 1:12). So, stay on that difficult path and enter through the narrow gate that leads to eternal life!

Warm regards,

Andy Diemer
