The World has Changed

Airports that were nearly empty and planes that were fifteen percent full. That was my travel experience this week for a brief trip to Cleveland and back. I was one of two persons going through airport security, quite crowded in normal times. Most all the airport shops are closed, and airlines are serving no snacks or drinks on flights. And everywhere people wore masks, me included.

The world has changed, not a little but a lot. It will take some getting used to it as we try returning to normal after the virus has peaked. We all know that it will not be the old normal, but the new. It will be different for all of us, including how we meet for Sabbath services, whenever that will be.

We can expect more change ahead, as nations and governments fight a common, invisible enemy. We will have to wait and see how all this plays into the end time scenario prophesied in the Scriptures. Yet, in such a world, it is a great blessing to know the truth that does not change. For God says, "I am the Lord, I do not change" (Malachi 3:6).

God's faithfulness is very comforting. We can put all our confidence in Him. As David said, "The Lord is my rock and my fortress....my God, my strength, in whom I will trust" (Psalms 18:2). No matter what happens, "we know that all things work together" for us "who love God...the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).

So, as the world changes all around us, keep your heart from worry about where this is all leading. Put your trust and confidence in God who says, "I do not change!" (Malachi 3:6).

The world has changed and will change much more because of this crisis. But take heart knowing that God is faithful, and He does not change. As Paul wrote concluding his epistle to the Hebrews, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8)!

Warm regards,

Andy
