Pastor's Corner - December 31st, 2021

It's hard to believe this is the final Pastor's Corner for 2021, but here we are.

Tonight the world around us will celebrate New Year's Eve going into the first day of 2022 tomorrow. There will be drinks flowing, drunken revelry taking place, and our neighborhood will do its best impression of armed conflict as the fireworks and gunshots announce the arrival of 2022.

Looking online today, there are a number out there that are convinced that given the challenges we've experienced in 2020, and 2021 that we're going to finally turn the corner in 2022, and things are going to improve... and while they may in the short term certainly, with COVID mandates relaxing, and some restoration toward what we knew as normal before the pandemic... with the rattling of sabers in Ukraine, and Taiwan, as well as uncertain financial markets... and the widening political divide in America, we know that there is only one event that is going to cause true, lasting improvement - and that's the return of Jesus Christ. 

So while we may now be exiting 2021, and entering 2022 - until THAT event is fulfilled, when God the Father looks down and says, "Enough." we will continue to struggle. 

However, I hope that despite this recognition that we will spread hope and encouragement out there in this coming year. As they are seeking for answers, and solutions to the challenges of life that we are sure to face as we near the Day of the Lord, that we point people to the true solution, living our lives in such a way that they may see the love of Christ in us.

Our light shining brightly in the darkness of this world as we yield our lives to Him, one that is warm, inviting, and full of hope.

While 2022 will come with its own challenges, we can take solace in one definitive truth - as 2021 comes to a close, we are one year closer to the return of Jesus Christ.
