"NO MORE WAR! THE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME!"
Can you imagine the joy of seeing that headline in newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal? Or the New York Times or your local newspaper? Instead, of the headlines of today:
"BIDEN PLANS TO MOVE TROOPS TO EASTERN EUROPE IN THE NEAR-TERM", and "RUSSIAN INVASION of UKRAINE WOULD BE HORRIFIC, TOP U.S. GENERAL SAYS".
We look forward to a time in which swords will be turned to plowshares and spears to pruning hooks. Isaiah 2:4 goes on to talk about how "Nation will not rise up against nation, and neither shall they learn war anymore." God Himself will judge between the nations - and the concerns, or conflicts which they experience will be settled and determined by a God of justice, love, mercy, and power.
As the news has developed this week with the positioning of troops, as well as aerial combat squadrons, anti-aircraft, and mortar batteries in addition to battalions of troops and forward combat bases along the northern and eastern borders of Ukraine - we look to be on the precipice once again of conflict that threatens to expand to regional war.
It's wonderful in these times of global uncertainty to have the guarantee of the promises of God. The knowledge that someday Jesus Christ will return and establish His kingdom on this earth, and man will know the way of God. It helps comfort us, and propel us forward through the challenges that we see surrounding us.
Please keep the brethren in Ukraine in your prayers, that a diplomatic solution can be reached, and open war would be unnecessary. Have a wonderful Sabbath.
