Letter From Dan Preston

November 15, 2019

Good evening brethren and Happy Sabbath!  Our memory verse last week was Mark 10:15 (NKJV), "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."  I tell you, keep a close eye out to see if you can really find clues below for this week's memory verse!

Where's a police officer when you need one

I was driving home late one night on the freeway when a car flew by me and narrowly missed my front fender as they weaved in and out of traffic.  Just as I thought to myself, "Where is a police officer when you need one," another car speedily flew by me. This one though had the words 'Ohio State Highway Patrol' written on the side.  A split second later, his lights came on and the first car was pulled over. Ah, sweet justice...

A paradox

Do we ever cry out for justice, over and over, hoping that some way, some how our case will be heard?  That's certainly what I felt when I saw that first car go by. I was positive the fellow was going to get away with it when suddenly, my cause was avenged, and justice was speedily served.

So how should that make me feel?  Should I still want to see justice done, now that I've seen it carried out one time?  On the other hand, if that patrolmen hadn't have been there and the person in the first car had gotten away with it, should I have given up on justice?

What does God expect?

When the Son of Man returns to the Earth, what will he find?  I'm not talking about speeders of course. Rather, I'm talking about what is inside you and I.  What is in our hearts? Do we possess the faith God expects from us, whether He answers our prayers or not?  Should that make a difference on whether we actually have any faith or not?

Just like we should always want to see a dangerous driver brought under control, we should never relent our pursuit of being faithful.  Whether we get what we hope to or not, we need to possess the faith Jesus is looking for at His return!
