Letter From Dan Preston

September 11, 2020

Good evening and happy Sabbath! Last week's memory verse was Daniel 2:47 (NKJV), "..."Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret." Read below to see if you can find the rest of the clues below

A somber anniversary

As you are no doubt aware, today marks the 19th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.  3,000 innocent civilians were killed that day in the larget ever terror attack on US soil. Almost two decades later, we as a nation, still struggle for the answer to the questions that surround this tragedy.

The biggest question

Although the answers to questions like 'How were the terrorists able to coordinate this attack?' or 'Why would they attack the US?' have been debatably answered, there remains one question that most of the world cannot answer. What will happen to those who died so suddenly on that day?

As students of the Bible, we can answer this question.  Were those 3,000 people - civillians and terrorists alike - immediately judged and sent to heaven or hell upon their death?  Our answer should be a resounding, "NO!"

There is hope!

One of our most unique teachings as a church is the second resurrection.  We understand that while God does not offer 'second chance salvation', He does offer a first chance for EVERYONE.  The vast majority of mankind has never had an opportunity to know and understand God's plan for mankind, let alone what is truly required for salvation.

The upcoming Feast of Tabernacles, and in particular, the 8th Day, hold the answer to where these 3,000 people - and billions more like them - fall in God's plan.  The 8th Day represents the time when the books of the Bible will be opened to them, and all those who have ever lived and died - small and great - will have an opportunity to have their name written in the Book of Life.  May God speed that day!
