Letter From David D Schreiber

December 6, 2019

Tomorrow is the 78th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  December 7, 1941 was the worst day in US military history as the Japanese armada of ships and planes made a devastating surprise attack on our US naval base headquartered at Pearl Harbor.  The Japanese met little resistance. Being unprepared for this attack, the US paid a very heavy price. America was caught completely off guard.  But surprisingly, we shouldn't have been. Prior intelligence indicated an attack was building.  There were warning signs that were either ignored or not taken seriously.
We too have been given a warning about a time coming described as the "Day of the Lord".  Christ is going to return and there are warning messages out there for you and me - and the entire world.  Will we ignore the warning signs?  The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3  For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Matthew 24 speaks to the parallels between the time of Noah and the time before the coming of the Son of Man. Jesus's conclusion? Don't get caught up in the cares of this life and be ready. "Be also ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect" (Matthew 24:44).  God in His mercy gives ample warning in prophecy.  Yet in our own country, even after advanced warning of problems or danger, adequate plans are not taken to prepare people in advance. What about us?
Through Bible prophecy we're given the intelligence, the spiritual intelligence, to know what to do before these things happen.  The Apostle Paul said to keep our eyes focused on God. In 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 Paul wrote, But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
Things can happen very quickly in our world. We've observed shocking things in our lifetime that we did not expect to see. From devastating disasters to the moral decline and breakdown of the family.  On this anniversary of Pearl Harbor, let's be reminded of unpreparedness and take seriously the spiritual intelligence in order to be prepared - with our armor on - for the attacks to come.
Have a blessed Sabbath,
Dave
